The 125 foot-high statue, "Christ the Redeemer" was completed in 1931 and stands at the top of the mountain with arms outstretched in welcome. You are able to reach the statue by taking an elevator and an escalator or walking up the 223 steps to reach the top. Jim rode the elevator and escalator and Pat took the steps up. The "Christ the Redeemer" statue was amazing to look at and the view was spectacular all 360° around. We both walked down the steps back to meet our tour.
