Dubrovnik & The Croatian Riviera

We began our tour with a drive to the seaside resort of Cavtat. We walked along the seaside promenade enjoying the view and looking in shops. Then we drove through Konavle Valley where we stopped at the Konavoski Dvori restaurant for a taste of local specialties. What a pleasant surprise this was as it was in an old mill next to cascading waters of the Ljuta River. We had smoked ham, white & wheat bread, cheese & red or white wine and the food was really good. Then on to the walled old city of Dubrovnik. We entered through the Pile Gate to the main street, the Stradum. Then we were shown the main squares and saw the Franciscan Monastery. The old town is unique for it's marble-paved squares, cobbled streets, tall houses, churches, palaces, fountains and museums, all cut from the same light-colored stone. We saw it all and enjoyed our day in Croatia.
