Dinner at Chateau Kirwan

Tonight there were 16 people from the ship that went on the dinner tour to Chateau Kirwan. It was about an hour drive and we also were able to stop at Chateau Margaux which was a treat for Jim since it is a first growth wine. Chateau Kirwan has been classified as a 3rd growth in 1855. We had a tour of the winery and saw the process They will be harvesting the grapes in 2 weeks. We had appetizers and a taste of 3 different Chateau Kirwin wines 2009, 2003, 1996. Dinner was lovely with 3 different wines with each course.

1st course:
Salmon tartare with aromatic herbs cream
Signatures en Bordeaux Blanc 2007

2nd course:
Medallion of veal loin, parmesan polenta & former peas
Charmes de Kirwan 1996

3rd course:
Pyrenees ewe's milk cheese with Morello Jam
Chateau Kirwan 1974 Grand Clu Classe'

4th course:
Three chocolates charlotte (molded creamy dessert lined with finger biscuits)
