We started our day driving 1 1/2 hours with a scenic drive through Normandy to the city of Arromanche where we visited the Landing Museum and saw remnants of an artificial harbor created for the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944. It's idea came from Winston Churchill who when told "there is no harbor to launch our invasion" he said "then we shall built it". Jim is a World War II history buff so he enjoyed seeing this after all the reading he has done. We visited the museum and saw real news footage of it being built. it was assembled in less than a week.
